SHORT HISTORY: After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the West and Est German states unified under a single German state. The struggles of German reunification became apparent right away. The economy of the GDR had been severely mishandled in the communist era east German enterprises could not handle the transition to the free market. Moreover, the European economy was already in the beginnings of a recession and while other states could profit from the opening of new markets, the new German state was paying a huge price for reunification. In the midst of all these uncertainties, a new political force came on the scene and secured a huge majority in the first general elections. And, unlike most "new political" forces that promise change, charging it with a mix of populism, racism and authoritarianism, the Technocratic Movement (T.C.), led by a charismatic young leader known only as BouBatran ("Old Bull") would advocate a change based on democratic values, free market, environmentalism and an emphasis on promoting education, science and "striving for a better tomorrow". PRINCIPLES: - Democracy: Not only should should state powers be separated, but citizens should feel more represented by the political establishment and have a large role in the decision-making process. - Freedom: All members of the society are free and equal, and thus have equal rights and obligations. Freedom of speech, freedom of though, freedom of expression are encouraged. Discrimination has no place in a free society. - Capitalism: Adopting and protecting the principles of the free market is important in order to secure prosperity and drive forward innovation. - Environmentalism: Protecting the environment and modeling the industrial waste producing economy into a green circular economy will encourage technological advances, job creation and ensure a sustainable economic development. - Technocracy: Creating a society of highly educated and technologically-savvy citizens. State should push adopt a policy of laicization, prompting citizens to look up to science as a means of adopting personal values and moral norms, while maintaining a personal freedom of religion. - Demilitarization: An emphasis on cooperation with other states, acceptance of immigrants (preferably highly skilled), open trade, promoting peace.
